FENTY BEAUTY Galaxy Collection by Rihanna

photo from tototalbeauty.com
So by now you've already heard about THE Collection and/or own one. I'm referring to the Fenty Beauty Galaxy collection by Rihanna that launched last Friday. I picked mine up on the day of the launch at the Harvey Nichols store and I must say I was surprised there wasn't a lot of people queuing up for it. I didn't buy the first collection until about a week after the launch and there still weren't that many people at the store, which is really surprising, considering this was one of the biggest makeup launches this year. I'm very pleased that Rihanna's line isn't marketed and distributed like Kylie Cosmetics where everything "sells out" in two minutes. There's a shit tone to go around so you never have to worry about queuing or staying up all night for a launch. That said let's move on to the actual review, which I presume is what you're hear for.

So the Galaxy Collection is a limited edition holiday collection which is made up of everything sparkly and glittery. It's called Galaxy for a reason. If you think Trophy Wife was amazing, wait till you swatch these. Everything in the collection has some kind of glitter in it, it's really gorgeous!! From the lipstick to the eyeshadows, to the liners and the lip gloss, the entire collection was literally made by unicorns. I swear, you can't even make that stuff up. The collection comes with:

  • An eyeshadow palette (Galaxy Eyeshadow)
  • A 2 way eyeshadow brush (which I didn't know existed until I checked the website. Must have missed it at the store)
  • 4 Cosmic glosses (aka Lip Glitter: Gal On The Moon, Spacesuit, Plutonic Relationship, Astro-Naughty)
  • 3 Eclipse eye liners (aka 2-in-1 Glitter Release Eyeliners: Later Crater, Nepturnt, Alien Bae)
  • 4 Starlit Lipsticks (aka Hyper-Glitz Lipstick: Gravity, Supermoon, Sci-Fi, $upanova)
From the Top [Cosmic glosses]: Spacesuit, Gal on the Moon
I personally didn't fancy any of the lipsticks on the basis that, that much glitter on my humongous lips was probably a no go. So instead, I settled for the eyeshadow palette (which of course is a giving) and not one, not three but two (lol) cosmic glosses. Glitter on my eyes is fine, it's a walk in the park. I do that shit with my eyes closed all day, er' day. But I haven't fully advanced to having my lips look like a disco ball yet! Slowly, but surely. I picked up Gal on the Moon which is a beautiful  deep pink shade with an iridescent brown and purple sheen and Spacesuit which is a gorgeous nude, flesh tone colour with a slight hint of pink undertone. If you're wanting to pick up anything from the collection, I recommend these two.

The glitter glosses are so smooth and creamy. They're very light weight and super comfortable. With that much glitter in one pot, I was expecting it to be slightly tacky. You know when you smack your lips and there's a bit of a resistance? Yeah, none of that. You barely even feel that it's there and it taste like nothing, thank f**k (not that I'm eating it....now.....maybe later but definitely not now) because I absolutely hate it when companies think it's a great idea to make their lip products taste like a bag of harribos or a bag of sugar. It's disgusting! Just stop it!

The eyeshadows! Oh you should see me squealing like a little girl. I'm glad she launched this for the holidays because nothing screams December or Hanukkah or Thanksgiving or Christmas or whatever like sparkly, shinny thingy-me-bobs. The palette retails at £39 so you know it should be good and IT IS GOOD! It's a great formula, very smooth and creamy and glides on really nicely. It's very pigmented and is just as beautiful swatched as applied on the lid. It does have some fall out but that's expected because of the glitter, so you'll have to be very careful and a bit light handed when applying, so it doesn't go everywhere. I usually do my eyes before my face so it's easier to clean the mess from fall outs or correct mistakes.
From the Top: Oh-Zone, Xtra Terrestrial, Mars on Fire, Cosmic Ocean, Ultraviolit, Lightyear, Midnight Bolt, Meteor Crush, Sublime, Planet Ex
Now did I tell you that I love, love, love the packaging? No?! Well I do. The eyeshadow palette though not the others. I think Rihanna did an amazing job with the packaging of her first collection. The packaging of the entire collection was spot on. The colour scheme, the quality, the fact that it magnetises, everything was perfect. The galaxy collection on the other hand, I feel they could have done a lot more with the packaging. The packaging of the eyeshadow palette is gorgeous and describes the entire collection so well. It's one of those palettes that I probably won't be reaching for quite often but will be on my dresser for decoration because of how beautiful it is and I wish I could say the same for the lipstick, the lip gloss and the liner.

Not a big fan of the packaging. For me it just looked too cheap, too plastic-y (yes, that's a word) and didn't scream Rihanna. It looks like something I picked up from Miss Sporty of Superdrug and no offense to Miss Sporty, my favourite concealer of all time is from Miss Sporty but Miss Sporty is £5 and Fenty Beauty is £16. So naturally I expect more!

From the Top: Space Owt, Jupiter Sand, Milky Way, Sunburst
All that being said, I do love the collection and who knows, maybe I'll do a double take and go grab a few of the lipstick and eye liner shades if they're not sold out by then. But for the ones I picked up they were 9 out of 10 for the lip glosses (minus 1 for the packaging) and 10 out of 10 for the eyeshadow palette. I'll do a makeup look with the stuff that I picked up so you can get a better idea of what they look on my skin tone and what sort of looks you can get from the palette.

Let me know if you want a more dramatic look or something for the everyday wear. Comment down below. I hope you enjoyed the read, let me know which product you pick up and if you like the collection as much as I do.

Enjoy the rest of your day and as always, I love you for stopping by (P.S. don't forget to hit that subscribe button before you leave and oh social media links below. Find me on the gram 😉).
