R E V I E W | QUAY Australia 'My Girl Mirror Cat Eye Sunglasses'

This will be my second fashion post of the year and I feel this product is definitely worthy of the title. I've wanted a pair of the Quay sunglasses ever since I was introduced to them by Desi Perkins on her YouTube channel about two years ago. So since I was going to Bulgaria for the "summer", I decided it was finally time to get my hands on one and I knew exactly which style I wanted.

Now if you haven't heard of Quay before, no biggie! It is an Australian brand that specialises in sunglasses. Quay is pronounced like KEY not KWAY like most people's (including myself) initial thought. So without further ado, I introduce my new baby to the world - My Girl Mirror Cat Eye Sunglasses by Quay Australia

So the design is in the name. The glasses are shaped into a cat eye but the cat eye shape is very subtle which I think is perfect! We all have different faces and sometimes not every sunglass shape may suit us. I bought a pair of cat eye sunglasses about three years ago from Newlook with my sister and I've only worn them once. Why? Because they look absolutely hideous on me. Cat eye sunglasses are just not for me but because these are subtle and barely noticeable, it works perfectly for my frame and I feel it will suit a lot of people.

One thing that made me fall madly in love with this is the colour of the lens. That beautiful shade of teal. The outer colour of the lens is teal but the inner part has a somewhat brick red-ish colour. This means when you are wearing the sunglasses, everything you see will have a hint of red rather than blue. I definitely prefer this red filter to normal sunglasses that have more of a dark, grey filter. Things seem brighter and lively with this filter rather than the dull and grey that you get from most sunglasses.
If you look at the glasses closely you can see that at the tip, just where it shapes into a cat eye, has a silver extension, which I feel adds more depth to the design. You also have the company name/logo on the inner and outer part of the sunglasses (for people that like branded stuff). I bought my pair from ASOS for £30 (free shipping to Boots) which I think is a steal for the design and quality of the sunglasses plus they're also kind enough to give you a case to go with it. I do however wish that it was a hard case rather than a soft one. I rarely buy sunglasses above a fiver, mainly because when it comes to sunglasses I am very clumsy and end up either breaking them, scratching them or loosing them all together so hard casing is definitely a must for me (UPDATE - I scratched this only after about a week of proper wear...see *sad face*).

I have heard and read a few reviews of people complaining about how the glasses sit on the nose as well as the size of the glasses being too small and being a bit of a struggle to put on. Now being an ambassador of big heads and a massive faces (and no I'm not fishing for compliments...I have never worn a hat in my life because I can't find one that fits me. Be it summer hats or snapbacks....nothing....de nada!) I can say that I had absolutely no problem. The sunnies fit perfectly on me and it didn't slide of even ones.
So all in all do I love these shades? Hell Yeaah! Do I think it's worth the hype? Yes! Definitely! Not everyone can afford Gucci, Channel, Prada, Ray Barns etc. and even though I'm all about finding a good bargain and always going for quality at affordable prices, I also feel like everyone (if you can afford it) deserves to have at least one piece of item in their closet that's either branded or of impeccable quality or both. And I feel these do exactly that and better. You are getting a high quality, branded product but with a very affordable price tag.

So let me know if you do decided to try them out. I'd love to see what style you go for. Tag me in your pictures; I'm on twitter, instagram and facebook. 1. when you buy sunglasses online check the material of the lenses you will be getting; polycarbonate, glass and plastic are the most common ones. Polycarbonate and plastic are lightweight, the latter being more affordable as well. Eyeglasses
